Parts Technician 30L

In PT 30, you will learn about parts sourcing, pricing, tracking, and shipping as well as the industry and career opportunities available to Parts Technicians. This course consists of 50 hours of online theory, 40 hours of a work placement* at a local ag equipment dealership, and ~ 10-hours of optional PT Boot Camp at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. *If you choose not to attend boot camp, you simply complete all 50 hours at the work placement.

Many School Divisions have an application process to register in this course for the upcoming school year.

Important Notes:

Given the seasonal nature of the ag industry, this course is only offered in semester one, with 50 hours of course theory to be completed from September to mid-November and then 50 hours of work placement from mid-November to the end of the semester.

Thanks to the generous support of local agricultural equipment dealerships across the province, the $500 course fee is FREE of charge. Parts Technician 30L requires a work placement, therefore, scheduled work site visits by a supervising teacher from the student’s local school division are also required. Teachers/ Students: Learn more about work placements.

  • This course will open for registrations on June 1, 2020 and will only be available for semester 1registrations (September - January).
  • Many school divisions have an application process that must be completed prior to registration. Please talk to your school principal about registering.
  • All work study placements must be coordinated by Lori Gasper at the DLC. She can be reached by email atlori.gasper@sunwestsd.ca
  • All work study supervision of students must be coordinated or managed by the students’ local school division. The DLC does not supervise the students during their work placement.

This course will not count as a PAA credit on your transcripts. This is a Locally Determined Option course and upon completion will count as a 30 level elective credit.
