Social Studies 8

In this course, students will investigate Canada and factors that have influenced its evolution into the country that it is today. Students will investigate the meaning of culture and the origins of Canadian cultural diversity; evaluate the influence of immigration in Canadian cultural diversity; develop an understanding of the importance of land on the evolution of Canada; describe the influence of treaty relationships on Canadian identity; assess how historical events have influenced Canadian identity; study the implications of Canadian citizenship on the life of Canadians; examine decision-making processes using a variety of governance models; examine various worldviews about the use and distribution of resources and wealth and sustainability.
