Course Description

Equine Studies 30L is a 100 hour course that explores various elements of horse health and production; starting with the equine life cycle and breeding technologies, we move into diseases, parasites and vaccinations and then study horse psychology and safe handling techniques. The course introduces new elements of equine study, and also builds on competencies developed in the 10 and 20 level.   

There is no final exam for this course. Evaluation is based on written assignments, skills demonstrations submitted on video and a final project.  Students need not own, but must have access to a horse and equine facilities in order to demonstrate skills and create the required video assignments.  Students should also have a mentor on-site to assist with the hands-on skills.
