This ELA 20 course focuses on looking back to childhood and then looking forward to adulthood. The selection of literature includes ones related to childhood memories, discoveries, rites of passage and relationships with family. In looking forward, the literature focuses on transitions, new roles and responsibilities, obstacles, and contemplating your moral values. The themes are more of a personal-nature type focus, so students should anticipate considering many text-to-self issues. The course includes instructional videos and activities to guide the learner through the background needed for literature analysis and comprehension techniques as well as essential skills needed to write for different purposes.

Units of Study:

  1. Starting Out – Beginning and Becoming
  2. Moving Forward – Establishing and Realizing

Journalist, Author, Actor, Reporter
